Over the years, I’ve worked with teaching in various circumstances – most notably as tutor at the game development programme at the Blekinge Institute of Technology. As tutor I was responsible for planning and carrying through courses, I held lectures and workshops relating to both development tools as well as game design, and I met with students to give feedback and to discuss their current progress in the programme.
When it comes to teaching, I believe that it’s fundamental to assist the student in finding his or her own spark and to create an awareness with the student as to why he or she studies the topic in the first place. When that understanding is in place, learning the actual trade comes much easier.
I’ve also held a variety of talks – most of them centered around games as a cultural phenomenon – throughout the years. Several of these talks have been focused on creating a better understanding of digital games for groups of people who have been unfamiliar with games as an activity and cultural expression.
